Stunning wedding day at Brookfield Barn, with the gorgeous Hannah & Tom. Such a fun couple, who made the most of every single moment of their day. They couldn’t have been luckier with the weather, the sun out in a blaze of glory!
I photographed Hannah getting ready with her Mum and bridesmaids at Birchwood Cottage, a sweet airbnb, tucked away down a local country lane, with the final preparations taking place at Brookfield Barn, before Hannah walked to meet Tom!
It was the hottest day of the year, during a very dry spell and you can see from the pictures, taken out on the golf course, just how yellow the grass was. Despite the sweltering heat, the wedding party were determined to wear their full wedding attire, especially for the family and couple photos.
Brookfield Barn hosted seamlessly, with perfect attention to detail. It’s such a picturesque location, in a beautiful countryside setting.
Brookfield Barn-Sussex-Camilla & Russell
Brookfield Barn, set in the Sussex countryside, really was the perfect venue for Camilla & Russell’s wedding, with its glorious contemporary rural, lakeside setting. The location was made even better by the wonderful sunny September day! Camilla & Russell are dear friends of mine, so it was a real privilege to capture their day, which had been some time coming due to Covid. The photographs really show off how happy they both were to celebrate their big day!
Highdown Vineyard, Jennifer & Aaron
Another wonderful wedding day at Highdown Vineyard, 18 months after photographing my last wedding there. This time, it was Jennifer & Aaron who were the lucky couple getting married at this fantastic venue. They chose a pretty sunny day too!
Before the “I do’s” and reception took place at Highdown Vineyard, i photographed Jennifer & her family, getting ready at their family home. Jennifer & her Dad were then chauffeured to Highdown in the classic S type silver Jaguar - adding some extra style and charm to the day!
Jennifer glowed in her wedding dress & the ceremony had some sweet and tender moments, not least when Jennifer and Aarons son passed the rings to complete the coming together.
The reception was wonderfully set out by the Highdown Vineyard team before the speeches, sword cake cutting, first dance and some traditional folk dancing pushed around the decks by DJ Paul Fish …

Steyning-Sussex:Elise prom
Last week, I was lucky enough to photograph my Niece and her friends before they set off to the Amex, Brighton for Prom night. We met up in Steyning , West Sussex, in the park for a pre photo shoot. It was 5pm and the sun was still fairly bright, so I used some dappled shade for the most part, with the sun behind to highlight the hair, which did make for some lovely photos. Quite a handsome bunch - oh to be young, bright and beautiful x
Shermabury-Henfield-Sussex: Michelle and Mark
Michelle & Mark got married just a stones from where they live! Just opposite their home, hidden half a mile down a country track is St Peter’s Church, set on the bank of the river Adur. It’s one of the oldest Churches in Sussex and described in the Doomsday book, with archeologists dating the chuch back to 1135 - it’s a fascinating place to be married and special too as only a few people get married there each year. It’s also a place which holds fond memories with me as i spent some years living in the area, having spent sunny afternoons picnicking by the river. I was always curious to see a church, so far removed from anywhere and never thought i’d be asked to photograph a couples wedding!. I felt very fortunate to be asked to photograph the occasion.
Michelle & Mark only wanted me to capture a few hours of the day, some photographs at their home & at the church, with close family and friends - very intimate & wonderful.
Town Hall-Worthing:Naomi & Daniel
Naomi & Daniel - Photographs from their Worthing wedding
This was the first of my Worthing based weddings this year and first time photographing in the Worthing Chambers, with it’s fantastic high ceilings and high slim windows, allowing for some lovely light to fill the room. Naomi chose not to have getting ready shots, so it was straight to the ceremony where an emotional Daniel arrived, holding back tears of nerves and excitement in readiness for the unfolding. Naomi arrived shortly after with her Dad, oozing smiles and donning her stunning white wedding dress, accompanied with her beautiful bouquet of sunflowers.
Some couples hold back the emotion, keep it hidden in the English kind of way that we do but not Naomi & Daniel. The tears of joy and the sweet similes between them, especially during their wedding vowels, really showed off the love for us all to see. Lovely moments of embrace between them, which are shown here.
Following the ceremony, I drove Naomi & Daniel to the reception at the Thomas & Becket, for the guests to dine and drink in the company of the newly weds.
Here are a collection of images from the day.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You absolutely captured the love and happiness that was in abundance that day! X
Steyning-Sussex:Leigh, Miles and Blue
On a beautiful lit May afternoon I met Leigh, Miles and Blue.
Leigh contacted me because she wanted to capture some memories of Miles in the natural surroundings of his childhood. The shoot at Buncton Farm, Wiston, Steyning was close to where i spent my late teenage years and I've always had an affection for Wiston, it's church and amazing woodland. Spent many an escape up on the top of the close by Chanctonbry too, so this shoot had a personal edge.
I had purposely made sure we shot in the late afternoon, to hope for a lovely late spring light. It really paid off and shows through the natural softness of some of the images, which needed hardly any re-touching.
Leigh & Miles were an absolute pleasure to photograph, with the shoot unfolding very naturally, without my direction, which is when I most love being a photographer.
I hope you enjoy the images and if you would like a similar photo session, please contact me.
A few kind words from Leigh as left on my Facebook business page:
I am so pleased with the results of my photo shoot with Daren! He captured moments between myself and my son perfectly - I am so grateful and cannot decided which photos to display! Thankyou you made the whole experience so relaxing and enjoyable!
Sullington-Hinesh & Janisha Engagement
So wonderful to finally have the opportunity to photograph love and happiness again, after being kept away from such special moments, for so long! I arrived to photograph Janisha & Hinesh shortly after Janisha had said “yes” to Hinesh’s proposal! I always feel so honoured to be allowed in to share such a special moment of togetherness. Hinesh had organised a surprise escape to the country, with the perfect rustic retreat, tucked away in the Sussex countryside.
Ghyll Manor - Eleanor & Mark
A beautiful summers day poured down on Ghyll Manor for the beautiful wedding of Eleanor & Mark. An idyllic wedding set in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Ghyll Manor is an elegant 17th century country-house, set in gorgeous private gardens, with lake and summer house.
Horsham-Sussex:Gill Pike florist
I met Gill at a Sussex wedding venue in preparation for an upcoming themed, Alice in wonderland wedding. I had been asked by another local supplier, Special Creations by Jane to photograph some details of the day, including some of Gills floristry delights.
It was during the photo shoot that Gill asked me if I would be interested in photographing some of her wedding props and accessories, so she could potentially sell and display the items on her website.
So, on a sunny February day I travelled to the countryside "Gill Pike florist camp" and took a series of photographs of vintage glassware, milk churns, vintage ladders, milk churns, jugs and crates. I took a number of photos inside with the use of a portrait LAMP, with soft window light and a bunch of photos outside in the sunshine, using the natural backdrops.
So this was a product photography shoot, something a bit different, fun and challenging. Gill was a delight to work with, generous with her hospitality and her floristry workshop is really something very special and unique. See Gill's website http://www.gillpikeflorist.co.uk for full contact information.
Here are some of the photographs from the day:
The products are beautiful and add a magic to any wedding day.
Ghyll Manor-Sussex:Tracey & John
A sunny Sussex is always going to make a great day for a wedding and fortunately, the sun shone for Tracey and John.
The Wedding venue was Ghyll manor, a charming 17th century manor nestled in the Sussex countryside, in the village of Rusper, near Horsham.
I arrived early to photograph Tracey getting ready in the hideaway Ghyll cottage, which made for some wonderful bridal prep photographs.
It's always good to meet new suppliers at weddings and I was lucky to meet Jane from Wedding Hair At Home, who did a wonderful job in styling the bride and bridesmaids hair.
The Terrance Room held the Ceremony with approximately 80 guests. It's quite a tight space when everyone is present, so photographing Tracey and Jon had it's challenges but I love the way I captured the little looks and the smiles throughout.
Wedding styling on the day was created by the wonderfully talented Jane @ special creations by Jane - sample of her beautiful work in the terrace room, photographed below.
The last image is the look of love and really encapsulates the radiance of the couple during their first dance. I love this photograph because they look really lost in each other, enjoying their own moment, even though there are 80 or more onlookers.
St Mary's Church-Horsham-West Sussex:Georgina & Chris
I was lucky enough to meet Georgina and Chris at a wedding fair in Brighton West Sussex and was delighted to get the chance to work with them!
I knew photographing Georgina and Chris was going to be a joy, as it was so clear that they were incredibly excited about their day and genuinely smitten with each other, which I knew would make for some really natural, beautiful photographs.
The pre wedding shoot took place in the same location as the ceremony would be held, at St Mary's Church in Horsham, West Sussex. The church holds fond memories for me personally, which makes it a really special venue.
The 12th century church is set in a quiet, picturesque location at the far end of the causeway and is the oldest building in the town. Inside the church is spectacular and holds some modern twists amongst some of the ancient interior.
The photographic shoot was a chance to set the scene, to test the likely light, outside on the day and for Georgina and Chris to have some less formal photographs, which they could use as invites for their Sussex wedding.
I love the colours and obvious love between Chris & Georgina, which all came together in the shots. Her are a few from the day.
